Ship Security Officer

To meet the minimum standard of competence for all trainees assigned to shipboard duties as required in Section A-VI/5 of the STCW Code as amended, this course is designed to enable the trainees to successfully demonstrate the competences on Ship Security Officer.

            Specifically, at the end of the course the trainee must:

·            maintain and supervise the implementation of a ship security plan

·            assess security risk, threat and vulnerability;

·            undertake regular inspections of the ship to ensure that appropriate security measures are implemented and maintained;

·            ensure that security equipment and systems, if any, are properly operated, tested and calibrated; and

·            encourage security awareness and vigilance.
