Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch

To meet the minimum standard of competence for all trainees assigned to shipboard

duties as required in Section A-II/4 of the STCW Code as amended, this course is designed

to enable the trainees to successfully demonstrate the competences as Ratings Forming Part

of a Navigational Watch.

Specifically, at the end of the course the trainees must be able to:

·        steer the ship and also comply with the helm orders in the English language;

·        keep a proper look-out by sight and hearing;

·        contribute to monitoring and controlling a safe watch; and

·        operate emergency equipment and apply emergency procedures.
